I ordered 5 books from Chapters online on August 31st. I usually order my books this way as my local store doesn't always have what I want and I hate vainly searching around the store. Plus, going to the store in person is just too tempting to come away with more books....and well, shopping online helps keep me on a short lease! And I always qualify for free shipping so it doens't cost me anything to have it shipped.
Anyhoo....
One of the books, from the order, popped up to be shipped right away. Its originating point? Vancouver, BC, where I live. Cool...that means it should ship quick. On August 31, according to the tracking, it was on its way to the post office.
Meanwhile, the other 4 books, popped up on September 2nd to be shipped from Mississauga, Ontario, across the country. These books reached the Mississauga postal sortation plant on September 4th and by September 5th, the very next day, they were in BC at the Richmond sortation plant. Richmond is a close suburb of Vancouver. The next day on September 6th, the package was out for delivery and I received the package with those 4 books.
Meanwhile, the OTHER package, the one that popped up right away in Vancouver? It was in transit to the post office on August 31st but it did not reach the Richmond sortation plant until September 7th!!! First of all why did it have to leave Vancouver, where I live? And secondly, why did it take so long to get to Richmond??? Richmond is a 30 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver!! And guess what? Its still there!!!! Its not out for delivery yet!
Can someone please explain to me how a package can take longer to be delivered locally than for a package to come from all the way across the country? This makes zero sense. I could probably get it faster by walking to Richmond and back. Jeepers!

I can totally understand your crazies about this, I don't get it, either. I hate it too when they say this book and that book will "ship within 24 hours" and then everything else BUT those books get sent. Worse is when I order from Amazon (US) and they get here faster than the ones I ordered from Chapters.
Did you order MY book? *LOL*
For some reason, EVERYTHING has to come to Richmond to be sorted. Most likely, Vancouver mail only comes to Richmond every few days and it might have hit near the long weekend. Then once it gets to Richmond, it sits in a box at the bottom until they work their way through it.
It's a slightly ridiculous system but I've never had it do THIS to me!
yes....I know......I try not to let it get to me..... :)
